Can You Compress the Shock Absorber of RM-2460-2560 to Get it to Fit
Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 08/08/2024 >
Question:
Can I compress the shock absorber a bit to fit between the existing holes in this kit? Or do I have to drill a new hole in the slipper spring box? Your video shows compressing, but the paper instructions might indicate that the shock has to be the exact height as provided held by the band. Followed all the spring instructions and the trailer is back on the tires under normal load.

Hey Andy,
You can compress the shock just a bit on the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shocks # RM-2460-2580 to get it to fit. The directions mention keeping it the same but realistically most are going to compress it, as you saw in the video.

Hey Andy, how did things go once you compressed the shock a bit on your Roadmaster Comfort Ride kit? Did it line up well with the existing holes under normal load? Your results could really help others working through the same setup.
