Will Thule Hullavator Work if Truck Cap is 10 Inches Beyond Crossbar

Question:

I have a Toyota Tundra with a Leer cap and Thule 60 crossbars mounted to the cap. Id like to know if the Thule Hullavator is compatible with the truck and rack. Note that the crossbars extend ~6 beyond the crossbar supports. BUT - the edge of the truck the cap flairs out is 10 beyond the end of the crossbar. Will this work? Thanks!

Hey Ed,

The Hullavator # TH898 will not work with the cap 10 inches beyond the end of the crossbar; the crossbar would need to extend a minimum of 4 inches beyond the cap for this to work.

You'd have to use a standard kayak carrier and a different load assist that just attaches to the bars, like the Yakima JayLow Kayak Carrier # Y04073 and Inno Kayak Lifter Load Assist # INA453.

I know this isn't exactly the same as the Hullavator in terms of loading ease, but it will definitely help make it simpler to load your kayak as opposed to lifting the kayak up on its own.
