I bought a Curt 12100 from etrailer for 2018 Forrester. Never installed it. Now have a 2023 Forrester which requires a Curt 12198. Can the 12100 be simple modified to fit the 2023 Forester? Thank you. I realize you are in the business to sell but if i can make this work, good

Hello Jim, thanks for reaching out. The correct hitch for the 2023 Subaru Forester is the Curt # C12198 for a 1-1/4" receiver or the Curt # C13409 for a 2" receiver. The # C12100 you mentioned is for the older models. I do not recommend that you attempt to modify the hitch. Modifying the hitch will void your warranty. There is no guarantee that it can be made to fit, and modifying the hitch can affect its integrity and capacity creating an unsafe towing setup. There is a reason a different hitch is made for the 2023 models, so I know this is not exactly what you wanted to hear, but I strongly encourage you to get a new hitch.
