2017 Jeep Wrangler Hitch Recommendation for Benton Shifts&Grins Spare Tire Clearance

I'm looking to add a hitch to my 2017 Wrangler and I was thinking of using the Shifts&Grins bike rack. Do you know what hitch I should use and if my bikes will clear the spare?

Hey Ronald, thanks for reaching out!
I recommend installing the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98856 on your 2017 Jeep Wrangler to carry the Benton Shifts&Grins Bike Rack # B54FR. We actually had a teammate fit the rack and bikes on their 2017 Wrangler with the shorter etrailer # e98835 hitch (see attached photo) so with the one I recommended you'll have a bit more clearance for your bikes. The tire on the Jeep in the photo is a P285/70R17 size just for reference.
This bike rack (and any other for that matter) will sit high enough that you'll need to completely remove it to gain access to your rear hatch, so if you'd like the ability to open your rear door without removing the rack then I also recommend picking up the Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender # PVP20B which lets you swing the rack (fully loaded!) away from your vehicle.

Hey Ronald, how did the etrailer hitch and Shifts&Grins bike rack work out on your Wrangler? Did the extra clearance give your bikes enough room past the spare tire? Your update could make it easier for others setting up a similar rack.
