Could Lippert HD 6500 Tuson Landing Gear Motor Replace Weak Motor on Older Fifth Wheel
Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/23/2024 >
Question:
Looking at the lippert hd 6500 landing gear motor for my fifth wheel. My current motor seems to be going out sounds like it’s slipping when it has pressure and kind of seems to struggle lifting up my older fifth wheel. Wondering if this motor would be a replacement for that and it really is a big difference between the heavy duty and the regular motors?

Hey Kaleb, if you see the brand Lippert, Venture, Stromberg Carlson, or LCI on your landing gear currently then yes the Lippert HD motor part # LC196308 would fit and work great as an improved replacement motor with more capacity. This is by far the most popular RV landing gear motor setup out there so I am pretty confident this is what you'd need but you'd want to check to be sure.

Hey Kaleb, how did the Lippert HD 6500 motor work out on your fifth wheel? Did it give you the extra lifting power you were hoping for? Your update could make it easier for others comparing the standard and heavy-duty motors.
