Troubleshooting Trailer Tail Lights No Longer Working on Trailer Behind a 2019 Honda Ridgeline

Updated 07/21/2024 | Published 07/19/2024

Question:

I have a 2019 Honda Ridgeline with the a TEkonsha trailer brake system. I have a trailer that was just serviced and when I got it back the trailer signals and brake lights dont work. The mechanic checked the trailer and said no, it must be an issue on the truck side. I took my truck in and the mechanic said fuses looked good, but he was unaware of the ones behind the rear seat. I have no idea where to start to find out what the issue is. Can you give me any suggestions? I am at a loss since neither party can seem to find the issue.

I would start by using a Tester # PK12741 or Test Light # PTW2993 to test your 7-way on your 2019 Honda Ridgeline. This will then allow you to verify if the issue is with your 7-way. From there you can use the test light to check the wiring on the trailer. If your trailer has a Junction Box # e99011 this is a great place to start. If everything is good there you can continue to trace the wiring back to the lights to verify where the issue is. Please let me know if you find an issue and I can help you further with fixing the issues.

Thank you for the quick response. My dad checked the 7- way on the truck, seemed good. The mechanic at Goodrich checked the trailer-good. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to vehicles, and am at a loss as both say on their side there is no issue. I will copy this and see what I can do to follow -up. Thanks
