Availability of Thule Apex Replacement Part

Updated 02/05/2026 | Published 07/14/2024

Question:

I have a Thule Swingaway Apex I think! Its VERY old, maybe 20 years old but still going strong! I show a 515-5174 on the rack. My male connector to the female connector got lose and dragged on the fwy, shaving half the male connector. Im hoping I can purchase a replacement cable as the bars have the screw and not the rivet on the bars. Is this possible? Thank you for any help!

I wish we could get the part you need but due to the age of what you have there aren't any replacement parts available from Thule for that bike rack. For that reason it is probably best to replace the rack with a new one like the part # TH9027XT which is the current version of that rack.

Hey, were you able to find a replacement or decide to go with the newer Thule Apex Swing XT rack? Knowing what you ended up doing could help others with older Thule racks in the same spot.

@JamesonC no, unfortunately I didn't find a replacement. I just lock all my bikes together and use a strap to further secure the bikes! Hoping a replacement can get made by Thule for us faithful customers though!
