Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 06/28/2024

Question:

I own two 1946 Bantam T3-C trailer. Id like to change the wheel hubs to accommodate Jeep wheel/tire. 5x4.5 bolt pattern. Im even willing to change the axles to make this work. Is there a wheel hub conversion kit or can you point to the axle and hub assembly solution? Im converting the trailers for over-landing pop up tent, etc.. Thanks.

Hey David, so what you'll need to do is replace the axle on your trailer which to do that you'll need to know the axle capacity needed and the distance between the spring seats on the current axle as well as distance from hub face to hub face. For a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern you'll most likely need between a 2k or a 3,500 axle.

Hey David, did you get a chance to measure the axle capacity and hub face distance on your Bantam trailer? Once you had those numbers, were you able to find an axle that fits the 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern you wanted? Your update could make it easier for others working on similar trailer conversions.
