Is There A Slider Hitch For Ford Puck System That Weighs Less Than The Demco Auto Slide?

Updated 06/27/2024 | Published 06/20/2024

Question:

I currently have a 21k lb auto sliding hitch I got from etrailer a few years ago that weighs in the neighborhood of ~450bs assembled. I dont remove it often, but doing so is a bear. How much does this manual sliding hitch weigh? I didnt not see any other options, but are there any other 20k+ lb Ford puck manual sliding hitches available?

Hello John, thanks for reaching out. The Demco Autoslide Hitch # DM8550038 is certainly heavy, so I definitely understand where you are coming from.

The Demco Manual Slider for the Ford Prep package # DM24YV weighs 210 lbs so it will be a bit easier to manage than the autoslide.

We also have the B&W Companion Slider # BWRVK3370 which weighs about 260 lbs. B&W makes a very solid hitch, but if you are going for the lightest option, the Demco will be your best bet.

Thank you for that information Jesse. The general consensus for B&W seems to be very positive. Like the Demco Autoslide hitch head with one large bolt/cotter pin, can the B&W Companion Slider hitch head be removed fairly easily to further reduce the overall weight when installing or removing the hitch assembly?

@John Yes, the head unit of the B&W hitch can easily be removed. The head itself weighs about 70 lbs so that can definitely make the hitch easier to remove. B&W hitches are extremely solid and, in my opinion, the companion hitch is the best 5th wheel hitch on the market today as far durability and ease of use.
