Troubleshooting 2024 Toyota Highlander Throwing Code When Curt Echo In-Line is Installed

Question:
2024 Highlander XLE factory 4 pin to upgrade 7 pin. Installed a Curt Echo In-Line Bluetooth Brake Controller. Added wire directly from battery to 7pin. Plug in RV 7 pin to Highlander the Service Engine Light comes on. Unplug the trailer from Highlander, within 2 hours the light goes out. Do I need a Diode installed?

Hey Danial, thanks for reaching out again!
As long as your 7-Way has a circuit breaker on that power wire you shouldn't need anything else for the Curt Echo In-Line # C79DR installation on your 2024 Toyota Highlander.
I would verify that everything is properly installed and secured first, and then if you have that same issue happen with the trailer plugged in then I recommend taking your rig to an auto shop and have them run the code to see what you're dealing with. You shouldn't be seeing any kind of engine light come on with the parts you installed, but if some wiring wasn't connected properly then I could see your vehicle finding a fault that way.
