Updated 02/17/2026 | Published 06/14/2024 >
Question:
Received my ST17RB today. It has a clear plastic lens on the bottom which looks like an which in no way could be waterproof. Supposedly submersible, am I missing something or did I get the wrong light? Thanks

Hey Kenneth,
The clear portion at the bottom of the Optronics Combination Trailer Tail Light # ST17RB is for the license plate light. The housing for the # ST17RB is sealed to prevent water from getting in and the electrical components are encased in resin to prevent any issues if water did leak in.

Hey Kenneth, did the Optronics trailer tail light end up looking sealed enough once you checked the clear license plate lens? Knowing how it held up after use could help others wondering about the same waterproof design.
