Are The Dump Door Hinges Strong Enough To Support a Dump Tailgate Converted To Barn Style Door?

Question:

Hello, Would part number Item PLR1904-Z be strong enough to support a heavy duty dump? We are looking to convert the tailgate to barn door style.

The Dump Door Hinge # PLR1904-Z was specifically designed for heavy duty dump trailers. The mounting bracket is manufactured from 1/4" steel and the 1/2" pin can handle a lot of weight. While the manufacturer does not give a particular weight capacity due to the length of the door having as much of an effect as the weight, you would want to make sure to use a reasonable amount of hinges on your doors. Obviously a 4' tall door would need more than just 2 hinges to properly support the weight of the door.
