Question:

I have the Yakima jetstream bars on my 2017 GMC Sierra with a roof flush canopy. Do the instructions describe which brackets to use for mounting on the bars?

Hey Jeffrey,

The instructions for the Rhino-Rack Universal Load Assist # RR-RUSL do not include mounting to the Yakima JetStream crossbars. I checked with Rhino-Rack and they do not have those crossbars as compatible with this load assist so I can't recommend using it. That said, we do have a very similar option for you that will work with the JetStream crossbars:

- Inno Kayak Lifter Load Assist # INA453

Like the Rhino-Rack, the Inno # INA453 is a side-loading kayak assist, though there are a couple things to note. One is your crossbar spread needs to be between 27" and 39" and the other is the Inno has a 90 lb weight capacity compared to the 132 lb capacity of the Rhino-Rack.

Thanks. I am going to give it a try anyway (just ordered) as they do say the are compatible with aero-style cross bars (including the steel Yakima) so I will let you know!

@KyleS Hi Kyle. The Rhino Kayak load assist fit just great on my Yakima jetstream bar using the 1 and 2 clips already assembled on the unit. The fit and contour seem to be fine so I suggest that Rhino update their list. The Jetstreams are quite close in profile (thicker than the old whispbars and about the same as the HD whispbars).

I concur with Jeffrey. I had Yakima core bars that were replaced under warranty by Yakima with a free upgrade to the jetstream bars. That being said the Yakima boat loader wont work in the Jetstream bars so a bought this product because it stated they would fit Yakima bars. I just opened the box and the way it comes, 1 and 2, seems to fit rather well, 3 and 2 would also work but 1 grips around the bar more.
