Single Red LED Lights Up When Brakes Pressed on Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller

Question:

I have a spectrum dial brake controller on my 2023 gmc sierra. I plugged in my trailer and when I pressed on the brake pedal one red light lit up. Is this supposed to happen? I believe I have a c51170. It was bought in 2023. I’m not certain exactly the model. It looks like thtC51170 from the online picture. I have not pulled the trailer yet.

What you have is in fact the Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller # C51170. The single red light means it is working properly. More lights will light up as more brake power is asserted. This all depends on the settings of the brake controller. If you haven't changed any settings yet I recommend starting on page 11 of the manual to get it properly setup and adjusted.
