Is There A Replacement Freeze Sensor For The Advent Air # ACDB Air Distribution Box

Updated 05/06/2024 | Published 04/30/2024

Question:

I have a 2012 Starcraft comment with the Asa acdb rooftop non-vented AC unit. Looking for a freeze sensor. Or a diagram showing all the parts that came Factory on this unit.

Hey Cody,

The Air Distribution Box # ACDB actually doesn't have a freeze sensor like the # ACRG15 does. This only has a copper wire poking out of the back of the controller as a temperature wire to tell the system to kick according to the temperature you have set. Is your unit freezing up and not working properly or are you having a different issue?

It will work for a little bit and then it starts to blow warm air if you shut it off for 20 minutes or so and kick it back on it will run for another half an hour and then go back to blowing warm air. I haven't opened the filter up to see if it's freezing the coils or not. Was told that I need to make sure the thermostat is working properly no way to check it

@Cody That plain copper wire coming out of the back of the controller is your temperature sensor for the thermostat so pushing it as close to the air return and away from where it forces out cold air will give you the best reading. I would also remove the shroud on the rooftop unit and blow out any debris in the coils with a can of compressed air and check the drain holes at the front of the pan to see if they're clogged up and not letting condensation drain.

@Cody The # ACDB has the thermostat built into it. You could try upgrading to the # ACRG15 instead which would come with a freeze sensor and wall thermostat to make adjusting and monitoring your AC unit easier.
