Does Goodyear Endurance ST205/75R15 Tire & Wheel LH53FR Have Lower Capacity on Tandem Axle Trailer

Hello! I was looking at your Goodyear Endurance 205/75/15 tire on the wheel and it mentioned a max load of 2150 lbs.. but anywhere I look, it seems to be less than that with a dual axle setup. I have a toy hauler xlr27hfs that has dual axles, and the 107/102 ratings I see on these tires wouldnt be sufficient for the max GVWR of the trailer at ~7900lbs. Do I need to look for tires in the 225 size? Thanks!

Hi Ryan,

Really good question, but with a tandem axle trailer, the load rating remains 2,150 lbs at 65 psi for the Goodyear Endurance ST205/75R15 Radial Tire w/ 15" Silver Modular Wheel # LH53FR.

The 107/102 load index is actually referring to a dual wheel, or dually, application (think large, 1-ton pickups) as opposed to a tandem axle application. Dual wheels are pretty rare on trailers but it is common for all tires to have a lesser capacity with dual wheel set-ups (though I can't tell you the science behind that).

So you don't need to go for larger tires, the # LH53FR will have a 2,150 lb capacity per-tire on your tandem axle trailer.
