Can The Hubs On a M1102 Light Tactical Trailer Be Converted To a 5 on 5-1/2" Bolt Pattern?

Updated 07/17/2025 | Published 03/07/2024

Question:

I have a M1102 Light Tactical Trailer that that I use for overlanding and I tow with my early Bronco. My question would be is it possible to change the hubs to 5×5.5 to match the bolt pattern on my Bronco? I like to keep to one bolt pattern for my rig if I can help it.

Expert Reply:

Due to the weight capacity of the axle on your M1102 Light Tactical Trailer the only bolt patterns that will fit your spindle are a 6 on 5-1/2" or 8 on 6-1/2". You would have to replace your Spindle # TRU74FR on each side of your axle which would then require you to get new Brakes # AKFBBRK-35 and then 2 Hub/Drums # AKHD-555-35-K to have the 5 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern. Do understand this will lower the capacity of your trailer so if that is a problem you are going to have to stick with the current hubs/drums and wheels and tires.

@Matt assuming you have a #84 spindle using # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer bearings you can use the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-35-K which has the 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern.
