Question:
i have a 7000 lb dexter ezlube axle . i broke off the zerk. i would leave the broken zerk fitting and just install a bearing buddy over it . do you think this would work to keep grease from escaping thru the zerk?

Expert Reply:
Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors will fit if the zerk fitting is broken off. Some people actually remove the zerk fitting on purpose and add the Bearing Buddy instead. This would keep everything sealed while still allowing you to add grease from the outside. More than likely you need the # BB2717SS which fits a 2.717" hub bore and # 14125A outer bearings. This is typically the correct part for Dexter 7k axles like yours.

thank you Robin . I installed that BB . Boy is that a tight fit.. How do most people remove this BB to inspect bearings? It's not like the grease cap which is easy with a screw driver.
