Can Curt 4-Way Draw Power From 12 Volt Outlet in Rear of Car For Toyota RAV4

Question:

If I draw power from the 12v cigarette lighter in the rear of the car, and only plug in the power when I infrequently tow a trailer, will my car lights work normally when I don’t have power to the hitch unit?

Honestly Dean, I'm not sure what would happen if you try to use the 12 volt outlet at the rear of your Toyota RAV4 when installing the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56434.

Reason why is there's no telling exactly how that wiring is or isn't fused, if it can handle the electrical load placed on it, or what effect it could have on your electrical systems. While I completely understand it isn't convenient to run the 12 volt directly to the battery at the front of the vehicle, it's something you absolutely should do to avoid any possible issues with your lights and wiring.
