Can Bumper on 2014 Rockwood 5th Wheel Trailer be Used to Carry Weight
Updated 04/22/2014 | Published 04/20/2014 >
Question:
I have a 2014 Rockwood fifth wheel TT. I recently purchased a Curt 100 w/ a 2inch receiver and its very ridged and will certainly do the trick. However, I have a concern with the RV bumper it is .90 in wall thickness and I am planning to pull my 16 foot aluminum boat but have some concerns that it may not be sturdy enough. I have one person telling it should be okay but would like your honest opinion.

You will need to consult the owners manual for the trailer or contact Rockwood directly for the capacity of the bumper the hitch is mounted to. A wall thickness of 0.90 inches is certain sturdy but if it is not rated for weight carrying then you would not want to use it.
Also, in many states it is illegal to tow a trailer behind another trailer so you will want to check your state and local laws and any area that you will be traveling in for the legality of tandem towing.
