The Retractable Ratchet Straps for Thule TracRac Truck Bed Ladder Racks # CBTH12 have a corrosion resistant steel body and a stainless steel spring. However, if you plan to leave them outside all of the time exposed to the elements I would expect the body to eventfully start to rust. If you keep the mechanism lubricated, or at least park your truck inside the garage, it will help prolong the life of the straps.
