Question:

Hi Etrailers, I have an older style TracRac system where the plates at the tops of the arms are welded...a friend of mine was getting rid of a newer style TracRac where the top plates are screwed to the support bracket, and he gave me the Cantilever Extention... I am looking at it, but it doesnt seem compatible, without some sort of adapter, unless I am missing something. I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction of how I could make it fit...I could send photos if needed. Thanks! Pat

Hello Pat. Do you happen to know exactly what model your older TracRac system is? Or perhaps when it was made? Knowing that will help narrow down exactly what parts are compatible and what your options will be.

If the cantilever extension you were given is for the new TracRac like part # TH24002XT, it is not going to work with certain older models. For example, the # TH24002XT will work with the following models:

- Thule TracONE ladder racks manufacturer from 2018 to present
- Thule T-Rac Pro2 ladder racks manufactured after 2011
- All Thule TracRac G2, SR, and Utility ladder racks

The older models of TracRac have been discontinued so there are no adapters or replacement parts available. If your older TracRac is one of the discontinued models, I am afraid there is no way to add on a cantilever from a newer TracRac system.

I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but if adding the Cantilever extension is a must, we would have to recommend doing away with the old TracRac and getting a whole new system for your truck. They are custom fitted, so if this is something you want to look into, feel free to send me the year, make and model of your vehicle and I am happy to make a recommendation.
