Loading And Unloading The Saris Door County Bike Rack In/Out Of A Trailer Hitch Receiver
Published 01/30/2024 >
Question:
To mount the rack itself, do you have to hold the 63# rack up and get it into the receiver hitch or does it raise up to meet the height. This is a big concern for me to taking it off and on. Any tips?

The shank on the Saris Door County Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # SAR42RR sits about 5" from the ground. When plugged into the vehicle 7-way for power the shank has a total of 10-1/2" of travel to give you a shank height of about 15". If your trailer hitch receiver tube falls under 15" then you'd be able to simply plug in, lift the shank, and roll the bike rack right into the hitch.
If your hitch sits higher than 15" then you could still raise the shank and lift the rack onto a piece of wood or a single-step step stool so that you're only lifting it a few inches instead of lifting it to the hitch and then also trying to get the shank into the hitch.
