Hey Pete, thanks for writing in, and we can get you set up with the best Equal-i-zer weight distribution hitch for the Forest River Rockwood 2608BS. I took a look and the GVWR of this camper is just over 8,700 lbs, so your loaded tongue weight will be in the 1,100 lb to 1,200 lb range. So for that weight rating the best Equal-i-zer is the following:
- Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37140ET
The Equal-i-zer # EQ37140ET is rated for tongue weights between 1,000 lbs - 1,400 lbs so it's perfect for the Rockwood. Not only is it rated correctly for you, it is also just flat-out high quality. Its sway control is top-notch, occurring via friction in the spring bars and at the brackets in the head unit. This is double the amount of sway control compared to most systems, and ensures there is a consistent amount of force enable in the hitch to continually combat heavy sway.
Our customers also love it, with over 700 reviews (thus far) giving it a rating very close to 5 out of 5 stars. The system comes with the shank and 2-5/16" hitch ball, though to install the ball you will need the Thin Walled Socket for Equal-i-zer Hitches # EQ70-00-4800.
The only other thing I want to mention is that the shank is for a 2" hitch, and I believe your Silverado 2500 came with a 2-1/2" hich and 2" reducer sleeve. The 2" shank will still work with that reducer sleeve, but the pin and clip that comes with the # EQ37140ET is for 2" hitches so you'll want to add the Hitch Pin and Clip for 2-1/2" and 3" Hitches # 325-GH-099.
