What is Needed to Convert 4-Way to 7-Way to Tow Surge Brake Boat Trailer with 7-Way

Question:

Hello! I have a 4 pole trailer connector on my vehicle, but Im trying to purchase a boat with a 7 round connector it has surge brakes, so Im guessing it will do fine with a 5 pole connector...?. Im trying to upgrade my vehicle to a 5 pole trailer connector. Do you have some kind of adapter for 5 pole vehicle to 7 pole trailer? Thank you!

Since your boat trailer has a 7-way on it currently and has surge brakes what you would want is the 4-way to 7-way adapter part # 37185 Kevin. Your 4-way will plug into this and all of the taillight functions of the 7-way will be active. If you also need the reverse light circuit active for a reverse lock out solenoid you'd then need to run the purple wire of the 37185 to the reverse light circuit of your vehicle.

This would be a simpler solution than converting to a 5-way and then converting to a 7-way.
