Features to know about

Corrosion-Resistant Connections: Dielectric Grease Coating

Trailer wiring connections can often fall victim to rust and corrosion, but with Pollak's heavy-duty, 7-pole trailer wiring connector, you won’t have to worry. It's coated with dielectric, non-conducting grease, protecting against any moisture ingress and ensuring an uninterrupted electrical connection for years to come.

Effortless Plug-and-Play: Jumbo Finger-Pull Grips

Connecting and unplugging your trailer wiring shouldn't be a struggle. With the intelligently designed jumbo finger-pull grips, this connector makes insertion and removal incredibly easy, even in tight spaces. Just grab, pull, and you’re set without putting a strain on your hands.

Universal Compatibility: Meets SAE J560 Standards

When you're dealing with multiple vehicles and trailers, compatibility is key. This trailer wiring connector meets and exceeds all SAE J560 standards, making it interchangeable with all competitive American Trucking Associations (ATA) types and ensuring it works seamlessly across various setups.

Widest Wiring Range: Accepts #16 to #8 Gauge Wire

Towing setups can vary, and so do the wiring gauges used. That's why the Pollak connector is designed to accommodate a wide range of wire gauges, from #16 for most typical uses to #8 for heavy-duty applications like ground wires. You won’t need to worry about mismatched wiring when connecting your trailer.

Superior Build for Heavy-Duty Use: Solid Brass and Zinc-Die Cast Construction

Designed for those who need robust reliability, this connector features round, floating, solid brass pins and a zinc die-cast housing. It's built to minimize voltage drop and resist wear and tear, making it solid and literally indestructible, just like our satisfied customer JH said.

Reliable Performance in Any Weather: High-Impact Thermoplastic Interior

Weather conditions shouldn’t dictate when you can use your trailer setup. Featuring a high-impact ABS thermoplastic interior, this connector withstands tough environmental conditions. Whether you’re working under the blazing sun or in freezing temperatures, expect dependable performance every time.

I searched locally for a 7-pin trailer plug without finding any round-pin styles only flat blade. I searched online and found this plug.
This plug is very well made, easy to connect wires to and fits the socket on my Kubota tractor.
Also, it was in stock and shipped much faster than I expected, which I greatly appreciated.

The way the connector comes apart & goes back together is very sensible. The terminal connections can accommodate large wires - up to 12 gauge on all except for 1 that can go up to 10 gauge as far as I can remember. They could possibly handle larger but I didn't check since I didn't need the wires that large. They're labeled for standard 7-way trailer wire colors, which is useful for most people but I couldn't go by it. Mine was a custom application. If a spring strain relief came with it that would be awesome but I wouldn't expect it for the price I paid. Hope that info helps.

I have a 1993 ford e150 with a factory I installed trailer connector round pin. I couldn't find a 7 to 4 match anywhere. Then I saw this pk11700 adapter and it worked great. Plus I have extra connectors now to add other lights. Great product thx

by:

the connector is "as advertised" (which is refreshing) it needs some sort of protective cover of the wires as they enter the plug, but maybe it is available and i didn't see to order it. I would buy it again.

by:

The cable end plug arrived on the exact estimated date I was given on the day of ordering. Wiring it is very simple. There is a screw for each terminal opening. Use a small phillips screwdriver to thread the screw out, insert the wire, and then tighten the screw.
A retention clamp is an integral part of the plug. Again it is a simple matter of turning a screw to open it and tighten it back down again. The plug is well made and should last a long time. It is exactly the replacement part I was looking for.
I will come back to etrailer.com when I need related items. I highly recommend.

by:

Just reviewed the truck receiver half of this product - same deal. Nice heavy parts - little plastic. Nice big round brass contact pins; due to the fact that these parts are cast, there is little chance of water/dirt/condensation working into the wire contacts. Locks in tight with the receiver. All in all, a good purchase.

by:

Haven't wired up the connector yet. Would have been nice if the standard wiring diagram used through out the USA would have been included. Then the trailer would be wired correctly to any vehicle that was using it. Mine didn't have the trailer brake or back up lite shown.

  • Testing for Proper Voltage on the Brake Output Circuit
There are many things that can affect the voltage on the brake output wire from your brake controller to your trailer brakes such as the power setting on your brake controller, how you are testing the wire and if you are testing it with the brakes or manual override activated. Using a multimeter to test the voltage on the brake output wire at your trailer connector will not always give the proper reading because it does not provide a load on the circuit like brake magnets from a trailer...

  • How to Add a Center Mounted Third Brake Light to a Trailer
Although it is not required by law, what you are wanting to do is certainly possible. Because trailer tail light systems combine the stop lamp and turn signals for each side onto a single circuit, you will need to use a vehicle-to-vehicle tail light converter, part # 118158 to split the brake light circuit back out. The white wire on the input side of the converter would ground to the trailer frame, the green input wire would tap into the right turn circuit on the trailer and the yellow...

The easiest way to go from a 7-way round connector to a 7-way flat would be to get a Trailer Connector Adapter part # HM47425. However, if you are looking for a more permanent solution you would need to remove your 7-way round connector and wire up the trailer wiring to a 7-way flat connector like part # PK12706. • Troubleshooting 7-Way to Semi 7-Way Adapter Stoplights Not Working
The problem you most likely are experiencing is due to fact that semi trucks have the turn signals and stoplight circuit on separate circuits/wires. Standard trailer wiring has the stoplight and turn signal circuits on the same wire. So in your situation you would need to wire in the Hopkins Tail Light Converter part # HM48847 on just the stoplight and turn signal circuits and you'll be good. A brake controller would not affect the stoplight circuit at all.

  • Wiring a 7-Way Round Pin European Trailer Connector
Usually a brown wire contains the running light circuit. However, you cannot go by wire color because it always varies from trailer to trailer. You will want to trace the wire back to where it leads on the trailer to determine its function and then make the connection in the trailer connector as needed. If you have a European 7-Way then it will be a little different. I have included a picture that shows the typical functions of a European 7-Way.

  • Troubleshooting Pollak Trailer Connector Adapter Not Working With Kioti DK5010 Tractor
Hi Forrest; because of the way an agricultural 7-way is wired the # PK12-724 is not a good solution. The best thing you can do is run a 7-way blade and connect straight to the trailer. Right now you don't have a brake output pin and it sounds like 12V power is carrying over so the brakes are constantly activated. Also, your tractor will have separate brake light and turn signals which won't work with the Big Tex trailer. To accomplish this you can use the # 337TC1474P along with the #...

  • Should Blue Wire on Trailer Have Power
The blue wire on a trailer is typically the output wire to the electric brake assemblies. If this is the case on your trailer then the wire should only have power when you are hooked up to the tow vehicle and are applying the brakes, either by pushing on the brake pedal or by using the manual override lever on the brake controller. Since trailer wiring colors aren't always consistent I do recommend verifying that this is the function of your blue wire. You can simply follow the wire along...
