Will Trailer Wiring Harness 20028 Fit a 1998 Ford F-150 without Factory Trailer Connector

Updated 04/15/2014 | Published 04/14/2014

Question:

I have a 1998 Ford F150. The flat connector does not work. I spliced in a standard receptacle, tail lights, stop and turn signals. The problem is that the clips at the wires are always dirty, and I have to clean them almost every time I use the trailer. It seems to that this part would eliminate my problem.

To solve the problem of the dirty connections you can clean them, then use dielectric grease at the connections, # 11755, and then seal everything up using liquid electrical tape, # SWC50122.

Another option is to replace the 4-Way you are using with either # C56031 for a non-stepside bed or # C55344 for a stepside bed. These connectors actually plug in line with the tail light wiring so you will not have to use quick splice connectors.
