Question:
Recently ordered a trailer wiring harness 56094 for a 2013 Equinox without towing package from factory. Ordered a hitch and wiring harness from another supplier. When plugging in the trailer to test the lights, nothing worked on the trailer and the left ds running light went out on the vehicle. The trailer lights worked with my other vehicle so I am thinking it is not the trailer wiring. Can you guide me in ordering the correct wiring harness which I will the purchase from you. Thank you

According to Curt, the T-Connector Trailer Wiring Harness, # 56094, that you installed is compatible with your 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. It sounds like there may be an issue with the wiring harness itself since your trailer lights work with another vehicle.
The first step I recommend taking is to inspect the connections for the wiring harness and make sure it is grounded properly. If you see any pinched, frayed or damaged wires, the harness could be shorting out, which would explain why your vehicle's tail light went out.
Another possible problem is that the lights on your trailer draw more amps than the tail light circuits on your Equinox can handle. That could explain why the tail light on your Equinox stopped working.
The wiring harness that I would recommend for your Equinox is the Tow Ready T-One Powered Wiring Harness, # 118494. This harness also plugs into the tail light assemblies, but it has a power wire that runs to the positive post of the vehicle battery to power the trailer lights. This protects the vehicles tail light wires from short circuits or excess amperage draw from the trailer lights. I have attached an installation video of this harness on an Equinox for you to check out.
