Upgrading 13" Tires And Wheels To 15" Tires And Wheels

Published 12/05/2023

Question:

I have a trailer with 13 inch wheel and tires. I want to change them to a 15 inch wheel and tire. I have seen combination wheel and tire packages but I would like to put a custom 15 inch rim on. Do you have an adapter or can I simply buy a 15 inch five lug wheel?

It may be possible to upgrade your 13" wheels and tires to 15". We do carry 15" five lug wheels. So as long as the hubs on your trailer use a standard 5 bolt pattern, like 5 on 4-1/2", then you can mount 15" wheels no problem. There is no adapter that is made or needed for this purpose.

The main factory we need to consider is fender clearance. In a lot of cases, placement of the trailer fender will limit how big of a tire you can put on. Our rule of thumb is that we want at least 3" between the tire and the fender, and at least 1" between the inside of the tire and the frame of the trailer. your best bet will be to measure your the current clearance to see what kind of space you are working with. Generally speaking, the smallest 15" tire will be about 3" larger in diameter, and 1" wider than a 13" tire.

All of that being said, we have quite a few options for 15" tires and wheels. We can do white weel, like the Provider # A225R645WM that you were looking at. We also have steel wheels in black and silver. Or if you want to go a step up we have a lot of really good looking aluminum wheels, like the Kenda Karrier ST205/75R15 Radial Tire w/ 15" Series T02 Aluminum Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - LR D # AM39053. If there is something specific you are looking for, feel free to send me some details and I am happy to see what we can offer you.
