Question:

When bolting track to deck is there any concern regarding dissimilar metals being joined in the process - zinc coated steel onto aluminum? If so, what should be done during installation to minimize the difference?

Expert Reply:

The zinc plating on the Erickson E-Track # E19148 will actually prevent the underlying steel from coming into contact with the aluminum, so the risk of corrosion of the aluminum is reduced significantly. That being said, you will want to use something like the Snap-Lock Zinc Coated Metal Screws # SL99FR. A bolt, lock washer, and nut combination that is also zinc coated can also be used. Depending on the size of the bolt, however, you may need to expand the holes in the E-Track # E19148.
