Question:
I am considering buying a 2019 Mercedes GLS450 with the factory tow package. I am waiting for the car to be delivered. I have asked 3 Mercedes dealers about installing a brake controller and all have said, basically no. One did say it could be done for $1,000-$4,000. Just wondering how etrailer was able to verify the RED44FR brake controller will work on this vehicle? Love the small size and simplicity of this controller so would love to use this while pulling my camper. It make no sense that MB would have a 7,000# towing capacity and put a factory tow package unless you can add a brake controller. Thoughts?

I have a great brake controller option but we don't have the Redarc you referenced confirmed as a fit actually. Instead we have the Curt Echo In-Line wireless brake controller part # C79DR as a fit that I would recommend. The reason THIS controller is a fit is due to it's unique design which is very universal.
It installs by plugging inline with the 7-way of the 19' GLS450 and once synced to a smart phone is ready to tow with. No difficult wiring or anything else needed. We don't have a confirmed way to use a more traditional brake controller in your vehicle.
