Published 07/25/2023 >
Question:
I have just installed an E-Z lube hub and bearings and have followed the directions on how to a adjust the tension on the bearing. Once done I have a little bit of play when grabbing the tire. Part # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K. Should there any play after installing this part?

You shouldn't really have any play with the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K. If you are getting play in it then the bearings most likely are either not set correctly or were the incorrect choice for your axle's spindle. I recommend removing the hub and measuring your spindle with a set of calipers at points B, C, and D from the diagram below. Once we have these measurements we can ensure that you have the correct bearing/hub combination.
As for the installation you'll want to ensure that you use a set of channel locks to tighten the spindle nut and fully seat the bearings and then back the nut off and tighten to hand tight. If your hub no longer has play but the wheel itself does then you'll want to ensure that you're fully torqueing the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
