Help Finding Wheels and Tires for a Single Horse Trailer With 5 on 5" Bolt Pattern

Published 06/22/2023

Question:

I just baught an old single horse trailer that has a 5 on 5 bolt pattern a bore hole of 3.5”88.9mm. I’m having a hard time locating rims for it. Looks like currently it has a 15” trailer rim and a 16” vehicle rim. Same center specs. Can you help me out and shed some light on what years I may be looking at or suggest some new rims that would work? Thanks!

Currently the only wheels we carry with a 5 on 5" bolt pattern are 15" diameter. The Vesper Steel Modular Trailer Wheel # 560550SM1 has the largest diameter pilot at 3.31". While your current wheels both have a 3.5" diameter pilot you may be able to fit the smaller size since wheels this size are typically lug centric and not hub centric. If you have a gap between the pilot diameter of your wheel and the outer diameter of the hub you only need to ensure your pilot diameter is larger than the hubs for new wheels to fit.

With having different size wheel and tires on it it will make it difficult to identify the correct size which came on the trailer. You may be able to find the trailer information tag on the front drivers corner which typically has the tire size along with weight capacity information. Without know a tire size or weight here is a list of the common sizes with some weight options which fit the wheel above.
