Wiring Up Two Trailer Batteries so that They Don't Drain Each Other

Question:
Hi, How would I split the 12v to a breakaway battery from another battery on a trailer. When I unhook from the trailer it still shows that the breakaway is being charged by that battery on my trailer and draining it. How would I fix this

What you could use is a diode like the Roadmaster part # RM-690 which only allows current to flow in one direction. So if you installed one of these on the power wire that goes to either battery it would only allow the battery to charge from that circuit and would prevent back feeding.
