Replacement Brake Winch To Replace Dutton-Lainson B1500 Winch Used For Boat Lift

Question:

I have a Model B1500 manual winch that has failed on my boat lift. It has a wheel and is on a port a lift type lift. If I went with a replacement what would be the standard replacement? Should I or could I consider a chain drive unit? If so , what is recommended? The boat is a pushier pontoon. At some point I would like to go electric and solar but not ready to make that purchase.

The Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch # DL14964 is going to be the standard brake type winch to replace your B1500. This has the same 1,500lb capacity. I do not recommend changing to a chain drive as those can frequently have issues with the chain and gears.
