Troubleshooting Curt Discovery Brake Controller Causing Anti Theft Light to Come on with Motorhome

Question:

Hello. I connected a Curt brake controller model 51120 to my new to me Ford Forest River 3050s and the controller briefly lit up then went out and then the Anti Theft system on the E450 came on and now I cant reset it or start my truck. Just curious if you have ever heard of this happening and what thoughts you might have. Just thought I would check with you while I try to work things out. Thank you.

Your Curt Discovery Trailer Brake Controller C51120 should have installed on your Ford Forest River 3050S with the Wiring Adapter # C51432 so the wiring shouldn't be incorrect, and the Anti Theft system shouldn't be connected to a brake controller circuit at all.

The only things I can think of is if your controller was hardwired in and that was done incorrectly, or if there was other wiring that was damaged and it ended up blowing a couple of fuses.

I don't have a wiring diagram for your vehicle and it sounds like that's what you're needing to be able to fully investigate what's goin on. If you aren't familiar with digging into the wiring on motorhomes you might want to have an RV dealer or shop take a look at what's going on and see if they can fix it for you.
