Troubleshooting Demco Hijacker Autoslide that is Stuck in Turned Direction
Published 05/24/2023 >
Question:
I have the demo auto slide hitch. While backing in I had to make about a 90 degree turn and the head is now 90 degrees and all the way back and doesn’t seem to want to go back forward. I did finally get unhooked with the use of a wrecker any ideas on how to get head back square and to the front

The Demco Hijacker Autoslides are designed in a way that only allows connection and disconnection when the trailer is completely straight relative to the direction of the truck. Assuming nothing got damaged when you used a wrecker to get disconnected you are going to need some leverage to get the head back facing the rear of the truck bed where it needs to be.
You'll have to get creative with a pry bar to apply leverage to the head so that you can get it facing the right direction.
