Helpful Expert Reply:
The blue wire on a 7-Way # ETBC7L is for a in cab brake controller. The Curt Echo # C51180 does not need any input from this wire to operate. As long as the charge line is getting power and your trailer brake lights are operating correctly the Curt Echo will function correctly. The Echo is powered by the charge line and when it sees power to the brake lights it knows to send power to the brakes. This is the reason you are not able to use your hazard lights with the Curt Echo. The controller can't tell the difference between the brakes and hazard lights as they are on the same circuit.
