Question:

Item # SS64VR Rebel vs Item # SSR-312-54 the Solo Sumo for the rear of 2022 Ram 2500 4x4 for towing an RV. Travel trailer is likely 8,000 to 8,500 loaded. Ram has no issues with it until we hit broken or slit pavement and then we have porpoising. We will trade for larger RV in not too distant future and we are about max on this Rams payload of 2,165 because of a 40 g Titan fuel tank in bed, kayaks and fishing gear. So for the current bouncing and future needs how do these two Sumo products compare? Price is an issue, I will be retired soon, and the blue rebel comes in a little more $ plus may need prof. help on the install. It would not be in the budget this spring the solo might be. But, is the Rebel the one we would regret not buying?

I would choose the Rebel # SS64VR over the Solo # SSR-312-54 for your 2022 Ram 2500 for two reasons. The first is the capacity. Although there isn't much of a difference between the two, based on what you will be towing and hauling the additional support will be beneficial.

The second reason is the ride quality. You previously mentioned your wife's back and the importance of the unloaded ride quality. It is primarily for that reason that I would say the Rebel is the best choice for you. The two piece design ensures the best unloaded ride quality.

We don't have an installation video for the Ram, but I did attach one below on a Silverado so you can get a general idea on the process. The installation for the Ram is a bit simpler, and many customers install these themselves which would save you that extra money. I have also attached the written instructions for your reference.
