Largest Recommended Wheel and Tire For Use With Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # A20RS545

Published 03/22/2023

Question:

Question about Timbren Axel-less suspension, 2000# with idler hubs Item # A20RS545. Description says wheel size that can be used is 16 wheel 235R85 or smaller. However, in the details, the distance from the trailer frame member and the hub face is only 4 7/8. For a 0 offset wheel is about 9 wide for 235 size, which puts the sidewall of the tire about 4.5 from the hub face about 3/8 from the frame. Am I reading these specs correctly, and it really cannot utilize a 235R tire? Would seem it can use no wider than 175R so 13wheel, and that would only provide about 1.5 of space between frame member and sidewall. Is the description incorrect or am I interpreting the info incorrectly? Thanks

Our largest wheel and tire we carry I recommend using for the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # A20RS545 is the Karrier ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15" Aluminum Wheel # KE27JR. This is our largest wheel diameter with the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern the Timbren above includes. The hub face offset being 4-7/8" with the tire having a width of 7.6 and zero offset will give you roughly 3-7/8" from the hub and 1" of clearance which is sufficient. The tire has a load rating of 1,820lbs per tire which is higher than the 2,000lbs the kit is rated for. There are other wheels and tires available with different amounts of offset and load ratings which we do not carry that may allow for them to fit the larger wheels and tires like a 235/85R16 Timbren gives as a maximum size.
