If your Explorer has the OEM 1-1/4 x 1-1/4 hitch, the lock will NOT work. If you have the 1-1/4 inch receiver, you would need a lock with a 1/2 inch diameter pin, like the etrailer Lock # e98880.

The Master Lock Stainless Steel Trailer Lock you asked about, part # 1469DAT is specifically designed for a 2-1/2 inch receiver, but its 5/8 inch pin would work in a 2 x 2 inch Class III hitch. You can confirm this by measuring the width of your receiver tube at the hitch pin hole. If this width is less than the 3-1/4 inch span of the # 1469DAT, the lock will work great for you.

I have linked you to a product demonstration video for each of the locks.
