The Replacement Crossbar # 910021-00 you were looking at would get installed on your 1988 Jeep YJ via the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 1409-1.
The # 1409-1 will only work with the factory steel bumper, so if you have a different bumper you cannot use the crossbar.
