Question:
Hello, I’ve got a boat trailer with surge brakes and I’d like to change them to electric so I have working brakes backing down the boat dock. What are my best options?

The best option is to convert your surge brakes to electric over hydraulic. You had the right idea looking at the # HBA-10. Assuming you have drum brakes I would go with the Hydrastar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator w/ Breakaway and 7-Way RV Harness # HS381-9066. This kit comes with the breakaway and 7-way wiring you will need in addition to the actuator. If you have disc brakes you will need the # HS381-9067 instead.
If you don't have a 7-way on your vehicle you can upgrade your 4-way with the # ETBC7. It is also possible a custom 7-way wiring harness if available for your vehicle. If you let me know the year, make, and model I can see if we have one. You will also need a brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885.
I have attached some review and installation videos, along with some helpful articles for your reference.
