I went out to the warehouse and measure the Ultra-Fab Locking Multi-Purpose Access Door for RVs # UF48-979010. It's going to require an opening approximately 6" wide by 6" tall due to the beveled in section that allows the door to sit flush in the bracket.
I recommend using some butyl tape # AL28FJ around inside of the mounting flange as well as some non-sag sealant # 344270341437-1 to prevent water from leaking in.
