Question:

Will not the Curt Hitch break off the bumper on my GD Imagine XLS 22MLE? Everyone on the GD forum does not recommend attaching a bike rack to the bumper. I would like to use the Curt Hitch on my square 4 inch bumper but I am afraid of breaking the bumper.

The Curt RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # E-100 is a universal hitch fit that can be installed on your 2022 Grand Design Imagine XLS Travel Trailer as long as it has a 4"x4" bumper. While this hitch does have a 350 lb weight rating, if your bumper isn't rated for very much weight then it is still possible to overload your bumper even if you haven't gotten close to the weight rating of the hitch so it's best to check the weight rating for your bumper as well.

If the weight of the rack and bikes is too much for the bumper that came with your Grand Design then you can either replace the bumper with something more sturdy like the Mount-n-Lock Heavy-Haul'r Replacement RV Bumper # MNT43VR rated for 500 lbs or the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13703 rated for 350 lbs tongue weight.

If you don't already have a bike rack I recommend checking out the Thule Range RV Bike Rack # TH9057 which can hold up to 4 bikes and is rated for use at the back of a travel trailer.
