Why does this not have the 2 stabilizer bars that guide into the strike plate ?

The Bauer Products Camper Door Lock # BA65FR not including the two stabilizing rods is simply just a cost cutting measure. The option is still there to add them in but you would need to get those directly from Bauer Products.

Hey Kevin - regarding those stabilizing rods - I just received a new door lock assembly (BA65FR) and was wondering if the rods are even necessary? The assembly functions well! And if they should be installed, how the heck do you do that? Does the new assembly need to be tapped out so the rods will screw into place? Thanks for your time.

@LarryR They aren't necessary. If yours is working fine as-is I would just leave it alone and you'll be fine.
