Question:
How is the load rating calculated for trailer tires? I have a pop up camper roughly 1,500 - 1,600 lbs. tires I have been seeing say 1,250 lbs. is that because the two tires are sharing the weight? The tires on the pop up now are a 145R12.

Expert Reply:
Ratings for ST145R12 tires are for one tire only; so you'd combine the capacity of both tires to get the full load rating. For example, the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # AM10140 have a 1,520 lb capacity per tire, or combined 3,040 lb capacity.
The Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # AM10130 have a 1,220 lb capacity per tire, or 2,440 lb combined capacity. So either would be more than enough for your 1,500 lb - 1,600 lb pop-up.
