Question:
I own a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has the factory tow wire harness 7-way plug mounted behind the rear bumper. Your site says this product fits mt Jeep, but some other sites say it does not? Why do you say it will?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Hopkins 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket # HM40975 that you referenced uses a standard U.S. Car Connector plug (a round 7-pin plug) to connect to the OEM wiring in your Jeep Grand Cherokee. This part is specified as a replacement part to fit your vehicle if it came with a factory 7-way tow package.
You can check the type of connector on your Grand Cherokee to see if it matches this part. I have included a photo of a U.S. car connector plug for your reference. Please note that we do offer the # HM40975 7-way socket along with a wiring harness as part # HM40975-11998; this harness includes the U.S. car connector on one end and bare wires on the other.
This combination 7-way/4-way socket allows you to conveniently tow trailers with either type of connector.
