Can you Replace 15 Inch Trailer Wheels and Tires With Smaller 13 Inch Wheels and Tires?
Published 01/23/2023 >
Question:
I actually want to replace 15inch wheels with 13inch wheels, so downsize my wheels, is there and issue with doing this? I just use it for hauling a riding mower between my house and my mothers house 2 miles away.

There are still a couple issues to consider when moving from a 15" wheel to a 13" wheel on your trailer. First you will need to ensure the smaller wheels will fit on your hub. If you know what hub you have you can verify it is rated for your size wheels. Otherwise you will need to measure the pilot hole size for the hub and if it is a braking hub you will need to measure to ensure the diameter of the brake drum will fit inside the smaller wheel. Also you will need to verify your trailer will still have enough ground clearance. If you have a steep driveway the lower trailer height may cause the trailer to scrape on the driveway or street.
If you still need help determining how much the trailer will drop please let me know what size wheels and tires you currently have along with the measurements for the trailer hub.
