Question:
I have chatted with several etrailer reps and gotten several different answers, so I am confused about which adapter kit to purchase. I have a 2018 Toyota Highlander with a factory hitchalthough I dont think it was factory or dealer installed. It has a flat 4 plug for trailer, but my camper has a round 7 blade, and I am planning to purchase the Curt Echo brake controller for use with my campers electric brakes. My camper dealer will install, but I need to purchase the correct wiring adapter kit to change from the flat 4 to the 7 blade and be able to utilize the Echo brake controller. Which is the correct adapter kit to purchase? Thank you!

In order to install the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller part # C51180 on a 2018 Toyota Highlander with four way flat you need the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation part # ETBC7L which is an adapter designed specifically for this brake controller. It has everything you need for the installation. The two four way ends will plug into each other that will then leave you with a few wires. The blue and yellow are not used and can just be taped up. The black wire however is used and needs to be run to the engine bay battery with a circuit breaker in between.
Please note, if the four way is not already routed outside the vehicle you would need to do so through a grommet in the floor.
